FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Do you offer translation/interpretation services?
We have access to a 24/7, virtual interpretation service, called Voyce. Please speak to our intake team or your assigned therapist for further information.
-
Can your therapists provide a diagnosis?
Social workers and psychotherapists are unable to formally diagnose. However, we have a Registered Psychologist who can do so. Check to see if your benefit plan covers this type of service or please contact us to assist you. We are also able to submit treatment plans through automobile insurance for psychological, social work, and psychotherapy services.
-
What is the difference between a registered social worker and a registered psychotherapist?
Both are qualified to conduct counselling services, however, both are unable to prescribe medication or make a formal mental health diagnosis. Registered social workers are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (https://www.ocswssw.org/). Registered psychotherapists are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (https://www.crpo.ca/). Both professions are qualified to provide counselling services. Please note our team also engages in continuing education so that they may provide a variety of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavour Therapy, EMDR, etc.

When will I know if the assigned therapist is the right fit for me?
If requested, we can offer a 15-minute “meet-and-greet” where you get to know the therapist. This allows you to learn more about the therapist and their experience and allows you to ask any questions you may have about the therapeutic experience or about CTT. It’s important in the therapeutic relationship that you feel it’s the best fit, that you feel comfortable and understood, and that the therapist offers you new ideas and room to grow.
Additionally, you can complete our online questionnaire which helps us in assigning the right therapist for you based on your expectations and criteria.
-
How do live video sessions work?
Your therapist will provide you with a secure, privacy complaint, video platform link that you can access which allows for a virtual face-to-face setting. We ask that cameras are left on so you can get to know your therapist better, and so therapists can read body language and connect with you on a deeper level. Your therapist will email you the link before each session.
-
How will I know that my privacy and security are protected?
Under no circumstances will we share your information, unless there is a signed release of information consent provided by you, the client. Your information is your information. You have a right to access any of your personal health information within a reasonable timeline and for an administrative fee. Additionally, under the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, all information you share with your therapist is confidential and will not be communicated to anyone without your written consent. There are some exceptional circumstances where we may require to disclose your information without your consent, as outlined in our intake form.
